Whetham's Books

Whetham’s Books is a Victoria bookkeeping and tax practice that needed its first website. We built one that explains clearly what the practice offers, attracts the right local clients, and screens out poor fits before the first call.

Overview

Trishia Whetham, a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, runs Whetham's Books, a bookkeeping and tax practice serving small businesses, sole proprietors, and independent professionals in Victoria and across Vancouver Island. Like many referral-driven service practices, the business had grown by word of mouth and had no website of its own. The goal was a first web presence that could do more than list services: one that would qualify prospects, establish credibility, and be measurable from day one.

The challenge

The practice was spending valuable time on intro calls with prospects who weren't the right fit: businesses too large for a solo practice, one-off filers, and clients on software outside its scope. The first website needed to filter those conversations before they happened, communicate a clearly defined niche without overwhelming visitors, and launch on a brand-new domain with no existing search authority.

The solution

Instead of a glossy brochure, we built a focused four-page site designed to bring in the right clients, not just more of them. Visitors can see right away what services are offered, which accounting software is supported, and what to expect on pricing, so the people who reach out are already a good fit. The contact form adapts to whatever service someone is interested in, so nobody wastes time on questions that don't apply to them. A friendly FAQ answers the common hesitations, including a clear, judgment-free invitation for anyone who's fallen behind on their filing. Behind the scenes, the site is set up to show up when people in Victoria and across Vancouver Island search for bookkeeping or tax help, and tracking was in place from launch day so the business could see exactly where new enquiries were coming from.
